Texas A&M and SEC Expansion: Predicting Texas A&M's 2012 Record in the SEC

The Texas A&M Aggies are going to join the SEC in 2012. It is just a matter of time until the official announcement is made. Once the Aggies join the SEC they will face one of their toughest schedules in recent memory.

The Aggies will join the West division of the conference which currently contains two Top 5 teams in LSU and Alabama.The West division is the tougher of the two divisions right now, but both divisions contain great teams.

The common perception right now is that the Aggies will not be able to compete in the SEC in their first year in the conference. Let's take a look at a possible schedule of SEC opponents and predict the outcome.

Game One: @ Mississippi State

To open their SEC season the Aggies will travel to Starkville, MS to take on Mississippi State.

The Aggies lucked out in their first SEC road trip in getting to play in Starkville. While the cowbells take getting used to, the capacity crowd of 55,000 will not intimidate the Aggies.

Chris Relf is not an elite quarterback, and MSU will struggle to win games until they find a real QB to run Dan Mullen's offense.

The Aggies win their opener in the new conference 27-17 when Relf throws two interceptions. Aggie QB Johny Manziel has one touchdown rushing and one passing. The Aggies are 1-0 in the conference.

Game Two: Arkansas at Jerry World

The Aggies and Razorbacks continue their 10-year series at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington even though the game is now a conference game.

Knile Davis returns to the college scene with a vengeance on his way to a record-setting season that leads to a second place finish in the Heisman balloting.

Davis rushes for 180 yards and four touchdowns against the Aggies.

Johny Manziel is intercepted on late in the game as the Razorbacks hold on to win 24-21.

The Aggies are now 1-1 in the conference.

Game Three: LSU

A&M and LSU renew their series at Kyle Field.

The Aggies get an early lead on Kenric McNeal punt return for a touchdown.

The Tigers fight back with a long scoring drive led by Spencer Ware.

The game is a defensive battle that goes down to the wire. Trailing 13-10 with 20 seconds left in the game the Tigers are on the Aggies 30-yard line facing a 4th-and-11. Les Miles calls a fake FG instead of going for the tie, and the holder is tackled in the backfield.

The Aggies win 13-10, and Mike Sherman grabs a whole clump of sod and chews on it after the game in celebration.

The Aggies are now 2-1 in the conference.

Game Four: @ Alabama

The Aggies get their first real road experience of SEC football as they travel to Tuscaloosa to face the Crimson Tide.

Aggie QB Johny Manziel looks like the red-shirt freshman that he is and throws four interceptions against the Alabama secondary.

The Tide defense return two of the interceptions for touchdowns in a 34-13 win.

After the game, Alabama head coach Nick Saban bites the head off a little puppy on the sideline and still does not change facial expressions.

Five Alabama fans are arrested at tailgates after the game for animal cruelty when they try to bite the heads off of puppies also.

The Aggies are 2-2 in the conference.

Game Five: Kentucky

The Aggies take on the Kentucky Wildcats at Kyle Field.

Christine Michael and Johny Manziel combine to rush for 207 yards and three touchdowns as the Aggies pull away from the Wildcats at home 31-13.

The Aggie defense hold the Kentucky offense to 197 yards and force two turnovers.

Kentucky fans are heard after the game openly questioning why John Calipari cannot coach the football team too.

The Aggies are 3-2 in the SEC.

Game Six: @ Auburn

The Aggies travel to the plains to take on the Auburn Tigers.

Johny Manziel has the best game his young career throwing for 302 yards and three touchdowns.

Play is stopped momentarily in the 3rd quarter when Sean Porter sacks Barrett Trotter and $60,000 in small bills fall out of his jersey and blow all around the turf.

The Aggies win the game 27-20, and the IRS meets with Gene Chizik and Trotter after the game.

The Aggies are now 4-2 in the conference.

Game Seven: Ole Miss

The Aggies face the Ole Miss Rebels and their new coach Monte Kiffin.

This game is never in doubt as the Aggies score early and often.

Will Randolph has a punt and kickoff return for  touchdown for the Aggies.

Christine Michael rushes for 134 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-10 Aggies win.

Three Ole Miss students are arrested after leading a protest because Admiral Akbar was not named as the official mascot for the school.

The Aggies are now 5-2 in the SEC.

Game Eight: @ Florida

The Aggies travel to the Swamp to take on the top five ranked Florida Gators.

The game is a defensive battle. The Aggies do not cross the 50 until the 3rd quarter in a game dominated by punters.

Florida wins the game 17-3 to continue their undefeated season.

Will Muschamp is so excited after the Florida win that he headbutts a Florida defensive lineman who still has his helmet on and gives himself a concussion. While riding an ambulance to the hospital, he is heard mumbling that he is a better coach than Mack Brown because he knows how to clap in rhythm.

The Aggies finish their first season in the SEC with a 5-3 conference record. The Aggies are 9-3 and head to the Citrus Bowl where they beat Michigan State 31-20.
