Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Victor Cruz and This Week's 5 Hottest Pickups
The biggest additions to your fantasy team may be through free agency with players who aren't well known.
It is better to take a chance on these players instead of allowing others to steal your thunder. You never know; you just may get lucky.
Week 3 of the NFL season saw some players creep into the free agency picture. Here are five players that you may want to consider taking a chance on in free agency.
No. 5: Donald Jones
1 of 5Donald Jones caught five balls for 110 yards to lead the Buffalo Bills in receiving in their 34-31 victory against the New England Patriots.
He has increased his reception totals week after week and is developing good chemistry with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Jones may be worth a pick up if you need a receiver this week.
No. 4: Eric Decker
2 of 5Eric Decker is getting more balls thrown in his direction as he continues to prove to Kyle Orton he can play the game.
If Decker is still available in your league, you need to get him now.
This week, he picked up seven receptions for 47 yards. Last week, he caught five receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
As Orton continues to build chemistry with him, Decker should continue to put up quality numbers.
No. 3: Torrey Smith
3 of 5Fantasy football is about finding players who are playing well. After two weeks of nothing, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith exploded for three touchdowns in the first quarter against the St. Louis Rams.
People tend to react quickly to numbers like this, and maybe you should too. There is nothing wrong with picking up players who played extremely well one week. Maybe he will be the steal of free agency? You never know until you pick him up.
No. 2: David Nelson
4 of 5David Nelson and the Buffalo Bills increased their record to 3-0 after their 34-31 victory over defending AFC East Champion New England Patriots.
This game was a statement game for the Bills. Ryan Fitzpatrick proved he could throw the ball in big games. Wide receivers may be the biggest benefactors to that equation.
Nelson caught six balls for 84 yards. In Week 2, Nelson caught 10 balls for 83 yards and one touchdown. In Week 1, Nelson caught four balls for 66 yards.
He has done it for the past three weeks. He should be on your radar.
No. 1: Victor Cruz
5 of 5Victor Cruz has been known to "wow" people in the NFL preseason, but he finally did it in the regular season. Cruz collected three receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns in the New York Giants 29-16 victory at the Philadelphia Eagles.
Cruz had all of two receptions and 17 yards in the first two games of the season.
Now that Domenik Hixon is out for the season with a torn ACL, Cruz has put himself into the wide receiving mix for the Giants.
It may be worth a free agency pick up because the ceiling for Cruz may be high. If it isn't, so what? It is just a free agency pick up.
