Marcus Pollard Amazing Race: Pollard's Wife the Key to Victory in CBS Show
Marcus Pollard has lots of titles.
Former Detroit Lion, former Indianapolis Colt, tight end, husband, father and now...reality TV star?
CBS has confirmed that Pollard and his wife will be two of the contestants in the latest season of the hit reality show Amazing Race.
He will be the first-ever ex-NFL player to compete for the chance to win $1 million of cold hard cash, but he isn't the only athlete. Olympic snowboarders Andy Finch and Tommy Czeschin are also a team in the upcoming season.
We all know the athletic pedigree of Pollard; it's his wife Amani that is the wild card. Yet if you ask Pollard, he has supreme confidence in his significant other:
I learned that my wife is really strong; not just physically, but mentally. She’s really stronger physically and mentally than I thought she would be.
Hope he's right.
The show always features some very physically demanding tasks, and being mentally strong is essential. Amani owns a boutique and also raises four kids. She is clearly able to multi-task, but can she travel fast?
At 36, she is a former athlete that has been known to workout with her husband. She certainly won't be the overweight complainer that slows her team down.
Pollard, who is now an offensive coordinator for a high school in Georgia, keeps himself in peak physical shape and will be a great player for this game with his stamina and mental toughness.
Pollard caught 349 passes for 4,280 yards and 40 TDs in his 14-year NFL career. He celebrated most of his trips to the end zone by using the crossbar as a basketball hoop as he dunked the pigskin. He was a basketball player in college before converting to the gridiron.
CBS has already filmed the season, and the Pollards aren't allowed to say how far they went, but you can bet that they will be one of the finalists as long as Amani can keep up.
