Kenny Britt Injury: Which Tennessee Titans Players' Fantasy Stock Will Rise?

Jon DoveSep 25, 2011

According to John Clayton, Tennessee's WR Kenny Britt was taken off the field on a cart this afternoon. The seriousness of the injury is unknown, but it appears to be a knee issue.

Losing Britt for a significant period of time would be a major hit to the Titans.

Britt has had a successful, yet troublesome start to his career. He has had several off-the-field issues that have constantly put him at risk for a suspension.

Britt also has missed time due to several different injuries. His promising future has been impacted by his inability to stay on the field.

If Britt misses time, it will mostly have a negative impact on the Titans.

If you are a fantasy owner of someone like Matt Hasselbeck or Chris Johnson, this injury is especially worrisome.

Hasselbeck will have lost his top playmaker, as Britt's size and speed aid quarterbacks. He is also able to create separation, while making plays on jump balls as well.

Johnson will have to face more men in the box. Britt is the best deep threat on the roster and keeps defenders out of the box, so Johnson should expect to see an extra safety in the box.

The pressure would then fall on Damian Williams and Nate Washington to replace Britt's production.

Williams would slide in to the starting lineup and see a major increase in targets. He had a good career at USC, but has yet to really impress in the NFL. Williams had some bright spots as a rookie, but nothing that would make you feel he will be a star.

Washington was brought over in free agency to provide a deep threat, but he hasn't been able to develop into a consistent presence. To his defense, Washington has had to deal with inconsistent quarterback play. The presence of Hasselbeck should limit the excuses, though.

Tight end Jared Cook should also receive more targets. He is considered a pass-catching tight end with the ability to attack the seam. Cook has yet to fulfill his promise, but an injury to Britt could be the opportunity he needs.
