Houston Texas vs. New Orleans Saints: Live Score, Highlights and Analysis

John HickeySep 25, 2011

Updated score: Texans 10, Saints 0.

The Houston Texans, in the somewhat unexpected position of being undefeated, have a serious challenge in trying to extend that today against the New Orleans Saints, one of the NFL’s best-balanced teams and a team considered a Super Bowl contender.

That being said, the Texans are all over the Saints in the early going. Quarterback Matt Schaub has hooked up with tight end Owen Daniels on a 14-yard TD strike, and Houston has tacked on a field goal from Neil Rackers to quiet the home folks.

The TD drive was a nine-play, 87-yarder that chewed up the better part of five minutes as the Texas may their way systematically down the field against a defense that didn’t seem to know quite what to make of what was happening.

In their nine-year history, the Texans have never even made the playoffs, much less started the season 3-0. There’s a long way to go, but clearly this is a team that has to be reckoned with.

Ben Tate, getting more carries with Arian Foster still dealing with injury problems, continues to grind out yards for the Texas, getting 34 on seven carries, which has been just enough to open the way for Schaub to throw for 144 yards with Andre Johnson his favorite target (four catches, 56 yards).

Meanwhile, Drew Brees has hit on just two of his first five passes as the Saints offense has yet to get untracked.

Stay tuned to Bleacher Report, as we'll be updating all game long for those of you unfortunate enough to be stuck in the dreaded "blackout zone."
