Barcelona vs. Atlético Madrid: Barca Continues to Prove Why They're Unbeatable

Justin WeltonSep 25, 2011

Barcelona is similar to the New York Yankees in baseball—they always get the best players on the market. As sickening as it may be to most, this Barcelona team is virtually unbeatable.

Whether they are bringing in David Villa in the recent past or Cesc Fabregas this season, Barcelona continues to bring in unbelievably talented players to play alongside Messi and company.

Barcelona, led by Lionel Messi, defeated Atlético Madrid 5-0 on Sunday. Messi scored in the 26th minute, 78th minute and 90th minute to complete the hat trick.

He continues to prove why he is the best player in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo used to be a close second, but the gap is getting wider each and every week.

They continue to destroy teams in terms of possession. Barca held the ball 68 percent of the time on Sunday.

It isn’t just Atlético Madrid though, it is everybody. Whether it is in the UEFA Champions League or La Liga, Barcelona continues to destroy teams in that fashion.

Messi leads the team in goals with eight, newly acquired Fabregas has scored four goals and Villa has scored three goals thus far.

Head coach Pep Guardiola believes his team isn’t unbeatable.

"We are not unbeatable...any team can beat us,'' Guardiola said. "But if we do things right the fans who come to watch us will have a good time, which is the most important thing.”

While any team in the world can be defeated, Barcelona is as close as it is going to get to being unbeatable. They have too much talent and experience across the board. Mix that with a flamboyant and incredible coach and you will be just about unbeatable.

Don’t believe me? Just continue to watch how well they play this season. Their play will do all the talking.
