Michael Vick Injury: Did Eagles Rush Star QB Back into Action vs. Giants?
Mike Vick is on the field today against the New York Giants. Vick is coming off of a concussion that forced him out of the game against the Atlanta Falcons. He went through the required testing and was deemed able to play.
However, the Eagles may have forced the issue and brought Vick back to early.
Concussions are a very dangerous result of playing football. Over the years, doctors have released studies about the long term effects of the injury. However, the NFL has done a good job of working to better protect players. The amount of tests now required to be back on the field should ensure that nobody takes the field if having any lingering symptoms.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The fact that Vick passed all the tests means that he is physically able to take the field. In my opinion, if Vick is healthy he needs to start. Everyone is aware of Vick's style of play and how it is a magnet for injuries. However, his style of play is not going to change, so either you keep him out of the lineup or take the risk.
Vick's injury history is why the Eagles were hesitant to deal Kevin Kolb. It is also the reason why Andy Reid has spent extra time with Mike Kafka and signed Vince Young. This is just something you have to deal with—Vick will get banged up. The Eagles just need to hope that Vick plays in more games than he doesn't. They also need to ensure they have a capable backup who receives some practice reps.
Some will point the offensive line as a reason to hold Vick out this week. However, the offensive line personnel is not going to improve. The guys on the roster will be the ones protecting Mike Vick. They need to continue to work together and develop continuity. This also means playing with Mike Vick, while learning his tendencies.
The Eagles have decided to go all in with Mike Vick. This means they were willing to accept the injury risks in order to get big plays. Andy Reid feels comfortable with his backup quarterback situation. They brought in Vince Young as a veteran presence, but have a ton of confidence in Mike Kafka.
If Vick is forced out of the game, expect to see Kafka take the field.
