Tony Romo Fantasy Update: Lung and Rib Problems Won't Slow Romo

Brian MaziqueSep 25, 2011

Tony Romo is taking a tough road in his image reclamation project. Two weeks removed from having his toughness questioned, Romo is readying himself to take the field with a newly-healed punctured lung and broken ribs.

To make matters more serious, the Redskins defenders have made no bones about (no pun intended) going after Romo's injured mid-section. Do you think that should scare you away from Tony Romo? I don't think so.

Romo is motivated to prove he is a leader, and what better way to do that than to play a tough divisional game on Monday Night Football.

Though Romo will be somewhat hampered, I believe it'll primarily limit Romo's movement. He will have to get it done as a pocket-passer against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins have been a big-play defense thus far. They have registered seven sacks, two INT and have scored once.

Even with those impact numbers, the Redskins have relinquished 235 yards passing per game with two TDs, and they have yet to play a passing game on par with the Dallas Cowboys passing game.

Romo has already had five-plus 250-yard passing games in his career against the Redskins, one of which was a 300-yard performance. He will have to do it without Miles Austin, who is injured, but he still has Jason Witten, who I anticipate will be huge in this game.

This will be a rare, intriguing Monday Night matchup this season. I figure Romo to produce a gutsy 250-yard passing game with two TDs, but unfortunately for Cowboy fans, I pick the Redskins to win this one.

Still, if you don't have a stud backup QB for Romo, you should still feel comfortable starting Romo, as he will play well through the injury issues.
