Week 3 NFL Picks: Which Teams Will Sink to 0-3?

Jon DoveSep 25, 2011

The Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts will all remain winless.

This is the point in the season where you begin to hear about percentages.  The percent of teams that start 0-3 and make the playoffs is very low.  Several teams are on the verge of starting the season 0-3, thus taking themselves out of the playoff picture.

Donovan McNabb was brought in to win football games, but also bridge the gap until Christian Ponder was ready to start.  However, the Minnesota Vikings are on the verge of starting the season 0-3.

McNabb isn't winning football games, and his play won't hold off Ponder for long.  Minnesota takes on the Detroit Lions today, a game that appears one-sided.  It will be very tough for the Vikings to get a win.

The St. Louis Rams were picked by many to win the NFC West, but their early season play has put them in a hole.  Of the teams facing a 0-3 start, the Rams have the best chance to still make the playoffs.  None of their losses have come against division rivals, but have come against the upper tier of the NFL

The NFC West is a weak division, meaning we could still see the Rams in the playoffs.  However, they face an up hill battle.  Today's game against the Ravens is a very tough matchup.

When, after two games you have scored only 10 points, things are not looking good.  The Kansas City Chiefs have looked terrible thus far, unable to score and stop anybody.  It doesn't get any easier, as they face the San Diego Chargers.

The Chargers are a traditionally slow-starting team, but have looked good thus far.  It will be very difficult for the Chiefs to pull off the victory, but division games are usually a toss up.  The biggest issue will be stopping Philip Rivers and the San Diego offense.

I give the Indianapolis Colts zero chance of getting a victory today.  They face the Pittsburgh Steelers, who will run the ball down their throat.  Also look for the Steelers to bring a ton of pressure, forcing Kerry Collins to get rid of the ball.  Nothing stacks up in the Colts' favor, and it could be a very long day in Indianapolis.
