Stoke City vs. Manchester United: Why Tie Will Spark Another United Win Streak

Peter Crouch headed in Stoke City’s only goal in a 1-1 tie against defending English Premier League champions Manchester United.

The tie broke a five-match winning streak for the Red Devils in 2011. Winning on the road in the EPL is a tough accomplishment, even against inferior opponents. Gaining positive results on the road is how you win championships, and United was able to do just that.

This tie will spark another win-streak for the Red Devils. Their next opponent will be Norwich City at Old Trafford—a perfect bounce-back game.

To create another streak, the first victory is always the hardest to achieve. Norwich City will provide an easier route to another win streak.

The road will get tougher after that. They will travel to Anfield to face Liverpool before hosting Manchester City in the battle of the two best teams in the EPL.

Liverpool is playing better so far in 2011, capturing 10 points in six games. They still aren’t the same team they used to be so that game will be a toss-up. United will be looking to at least gain a point.

City vs. United will the match that everyone will want to see. We will find out who has the upper edge early in the season after United hosts City.

If any team can go on another win streak, it is clearly the most talented team in the EPL. Being capable of going on winning streaks is how you get ahead in the English Premier League. The larger the margin you create, the bigger the deficit for trailing competitors.

After Manchester United destroys Norwich City at home, the Red Devils will continue their solid play at Liverpool before their big contest with Manchester City.
