South Dakota vs. Wisconsin: 5 Halftime Observations on the Badgers
1. Play-Action is Golden
The Badgers have established the running game early in the first half with strong play from both Montee Ball and James White. This has opened up South Dakota's defense giving QB Russell Wilson easy throws for big gains. Wisconsin should keep pounding the run and look for big plays out of play-action.
2. Ground-and-Pound in the Red Zone
For Wisconsin's first touchdown Ball pounded it in from the 5-yard line. The Badgers need to keep finishing their drives to open up their lead. They should keep handing it off to Ball and White up the middle and wear down the Coyotes D-line.
3. Toon is a Beast
Nick Toon is already having an amazing game recording over 100 plus yards and two touchdowns. Toon has crazy athleticism and speed which has been displayed in his two sick touchdowns.
4. Get Points off of Turnovers
The Badgers' defense has stepped up in the first half getting their first two interceptions of the season. Despite this, they have failed to take full advantage of QB Dante Warren's miscues. Wisconsin needs to keep putting points on the board after turnovers.
5. Watch Marcus Sims on Third Down
On the Coyote's first scoring drive the Badgers failed to get a stop on three crucial third downs. In the second half Wisconsin must step up and lock down RB Marcus Sims who already has three huge rushes up the middle and a number of big third-down conversions.
