Week 4 College Football Picks: Predicting the Results to the 4 Top 25 Matchups

Michael MillSep 24, 2011

This is a big weekend in the college football world. Four games this weekend will feature Top 25 teams facing off against one another.

That means four teams will make a convincing statement, and four will walk away with their hopes at a National Championship fading.

Here are predictions for the four Top 25 games this weekend.

Arkansas Razorbacks at Alabama Crimson Tide

Right now, every team ranked in the top five has a legitimate argument for deserving the spot at the top of the rankings. Alabama is no exception.

The Crimson Tide defense may be the best that the college football world has seen in the last decade.

They will face a test this weekend. Alabama is allowing an average of 6.0 points per game this year. Arkansas is putting up an average of 47.0 points per game.

Defense and ball control will put this one away. Alabama has been unbelievable in both categories.

Final Score: 20-17, Alabama.

Oklahoma State Cowboys at Texas A&M Aggies

This is the game I am most excited for this weekend.

This matchup features two teams on the rise in the college football world.

Texas A&M features a balanced attack and top tier defense like the other teams at the top of the charts.

The Cowboys have a different approach. They have a below-average defense and an offense that nobody can keep up with.

Oklahoma State boasts a passing attack untouched by anybody in college football.

The primary weapon of the attack is wide receiver Justin Blackmon. Last week, Blackmon had only 57 receiving yards. It was the first time since 2009 that he finished a game under 100 yards receiving.

I can't wait to see how he bounces back.

Final Score: 35-27, Oklahoma State.

Florida State Seminoles at Clemson Tigers

Clemson has faced some really cupcake defenses so far this year compared to what they will be up against this weekend.

The Florida State Seminoles look to bounce back after a tough loss against Oklahoma.

Expect the Seminoles defense to step up and play big against the powerful rushing attack that Clemson will bring.

It will be all business come Saturday, and this one should be a solid victory for Florida State.

Final Score: 31-17, Florida State.

LSU Tigers at West Virginia Mountaineers

Much of the talk all week has been about the matchup between the West Virginia high-flying offense against the stout LSU defense.

The real matchup that everybody should be looking at is LSU's offense against West Virginia's defense. It will likely be the deciding factor in the game.

That said, it's tough to believe the LSU defense won't make plays and create turnovers setting up the offense to score just enough points to walk away with a win.

They will, and LSU will walk away with a victory and perhaps the top spot next week in the Top 25 rankings.

Final Score: 24-20, LSU.
