Week 3 Fantasy Football Projections: 3 Defenses That Will Make the Difference

It's about that time to sit back, put on some coffee and figure out what mess you are going to get yourself into. A defense can kill you on Sunday, so take one of these three stout teams and wreak havoc on your fantasy opponent. 

Defenses are like children. They need constant attention, will do mind-numbing things and every once in a while make you smile. 

The key is to nurture them, folks. 

The worst thing you can do is draft a defense and leave them there all season. Even the stoutest of defenses will kill you at some point. 

You have to be prepared to take a flier on an assuming club that will be lifted to great heights thanks to a beautiful matchup. Here are the best defensive matchups for Week 3. 

1. San Diego Chargers

 This is the moment Chargers owners have been waiting for. The Chiefs have looked just this side of awful with the ball. 

Then they lost one of their key weapons in Jamaal Charles. This will be a lopsided affair that will yield proud returns. Just don't look when the Chargers defend a kickoff. That is the only time you may cringe. 

2. Pittsburgh Steelers

 This is a no-brainer for most games. In this case, it is a downright must that you play the Steelers defense. 

The Colts have no idea who to run an offense with Kerry Collins at the helm. A soft line will allow the Steelers to hit the elderly QB early and often in this affair. 

3. Detroit Lions

 The Lions have been feeling it as of late. Their young defensive line will put Donovan McNabb in precarious circumstances. A pick or two is not out of the question. 

These are two teams on the opposite ends of momentum right now. Ride the Lions as long as you can.
