Week 4 College Football Picks: 4 Teams That Will Win Week's Top 25 Showdowns

Michael DixonJun 7, 2018

Now, the college football season is getting good. Even if your team has already lost a game or two, the weeks are starting to be filled with multiple Top 25 matchups.

Yes, I am predicting all four of those games here. But the wonderful thing about this is that it's not going to be at all shocking if I am proven wrong on all four counts.

These are good teams playing against each other. As a fan of the sport, there's really nothing better. Again, it wouldn't surprise me if I am proven wrong in all four cases. Actually, I would be fine if that happened.

The college football season is really starting to take shape. Every week from this point on will have games that will alter the National Championship hunt.

Note that the rankings are according to the AP Poll.

No. 14 Arkansas at No. 3 Alabama

This is a hard game to get much of a read on. The closest game that either team has played was Arkansas 38-28 win over Troy. While that wasn't as dominant as the Razorback would have liked, they were never seriously tested.

Other than that, both teams have won pretty one-sided games. Alabama's toughest test was a 27-11 road test against a then-ranked Penn State team.

But much like the Arkansas vs. Troy game, the final score wasn't that close. Also, it wasn't as close as the final score appeared.

Saturday's game will come down to which defense comes through at the right time. In that battle, I will take a defense led by Nick Saban any day.

It will be close, but I'll go with an Alabama win here.

No. 7 Oklahoma State at No. 8 Texas A&M

Neither team has been has been tested at all this season. Both have incredibly dominant and appear to deserve their high rankings.

I am going to go with Texas A&M here though. Neither team has faced especially tough competition yet this year, but Texas A&M's defense has been much tighter than Oklahoma State's.

Kyle Field is one of the toughest places to play in all of college football.

I expect this one to be a high scoring game, but the Aggies' defense will make the big plays when they have to.

An Oklahoma State win wouldn't surprise me at all. This one should come down to the final minutes.

No. 11 Florida State at No. 21 Clemson

Is it possible for a team coming off of a loss to have a letdown the next week? Florida State runs that risk here.

They lost to Oklahoma, but played a very good game against the current No. 1 team in the country.

Conversely, Clemson is coming off of a win against the defending champions in Auburn.

Clemson's Memorial Stadium is a tough place to play, but I will go with the Seminoles. I think they will have a chip on their shoulder and will want to prove that they are actually an elite team.

Now, if E.J. Manuel doesn't play, then everything is changed. Right now, he's listed as day-to-day. But I can't see him sitting out of this one. He'll play and Florida State will get back on track.

No. 2 LSU at No. 16 West Virginia

LSU's defense has been incredibly impressive against tough offenses this year. Now, another awaits them in Geno Smith and West Virginia.

Mountaineer Field will be rocking, but a good way to stop that is to shut the home offense down.

While they both play tough schedule, I don't see Alabama or LSU losing until they play each other. West Virginia needs to avoid turning the ball over in this one.

LSU's offense is still an unknown. When they are on the field, West Virginia needs to make them drive the length of the field.

If the Tigers' defense gets in and forces turnovers, it's hard to see the Mountaineers pulling this one out.

I've already looked like a fool picking against LSU's defense once this year. I am not going to do that again. LSU will pull this one out.
