Manchester United: Kenwyne Jones' Injury Dooms Stoke City

Kyle VassaloSep 23, 2011

Even at Britannia stadium, Stoke City stands no chance against the Manchester United Red Devils. Not only is Manchester United the best team in the English Premier League, Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones is out for this match with a hamstring injury.

With Rio Ferdinand returning for Manchester United, Stoke City was facing an uphill battle. This injury is going to doom them before the match even has a chance to get going.

Wayne Rooney and the Manchester United attack are going to turn up the heat on Stoke City. The only way Stoke City could possibly win is if they can manage to catch fire offensively, and the closer we get to the match, the less likely that scenario seems.

Stoke City has proven to have an inconsistent back line. Rooney is going to find the weakness in their defense and if Stoke City can't keep up, this match is going to get out of hand in a hurry.

Stoke City is a solid team, but getting involved in a high-scoring game isn't their style. That's just not how they operate and they don't have the sort of versatility required to beat Manchester United once their defense drops the ball.

We haven't seen that Stoke City has that one attacker who can really take over a match, and Wayne Rooney has already scored nine EPL goals this season.

This match is more about increasing Manchester United's already ridiculous goal differential than anything else. The Red Devils are a great measuring stick for Stoke City, but there is no way Stoke City comes away with a victory in this one.

Even in the event that Ferdinand was sidelined with an injury and Stoke City was completely healthy, they would still have a huge challenge on their hands. The fact that luck also happens to be on Manchester United's side makes them unstoppable.
