TNA Observations from a Good Impact Wrestling Program

David LevinJun 2, 2018

Well, the writing is finally on the wall and Hulk Hogan appears to be ready to make the announcement we are all waiting for—he will wrestle Sting for control of TNA Wrestling.

Let me be the first to say hallelujah!

Sting and Hogan kicked off a pretty good Impact program last night, with exciting matches, great dialogue and of course a brawl between Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles that will probably lead to a match at Bound for Glory with some kind of stipulation in it as to the state of Fortune.

Man, how I love the soap opera as it unfolds.

Hogan said he had an announcement next week that would shock the wrestling world. You have to figure it is the beginning of the end for the Icon.

The “Queens Qualifier” match between Brooke Tessmacher (I love saying her name) and Mickie James was decent, but not stellar. I thought at some point Mickie would turn heel or be a little more aggressive (more so than she was) and that still may happen.

If Winter, Velvet Sky, Mickie and Tara are in the match at Bound for Glory, Mickie could turn heel and join the stable with Winter and Angelina Love.

I loved the fact that there is so much tension between Traci Brooks and Karen Jarrett. It looks like it may lead to something with Jeff Jarrett and Kazarian (at least from the phone call Karen placed after Kazarian confronted her). That would give both wrestlers something to do without taking up face time on the small screen.

The Kurt Angle angles are great! I think creative is trying to get as much out of him as possible since he is leaving the company to train for the Olympics. His vignettes are great and his wrestling is still top-notch.

The Christopher Daniels storyline is getting better because he is now more involved in the program. Daniels is a great competitor, but I think the angle with Styles needs to go away. If he takes on Fortune as if they were enemies that works better, maybe adding Jerry Lynn to the mix or Gunner from Immortal, who got involved in Angle’s match with James Storm last night.

And by the way, Daniels is not better than Styles, Storm or Kazarian, but rather on par with them.

Also, Austin Aries is still one badass. He needs more of a push from the entire company. He is one of the 10 best performers in the business today and looks like he could win all three belts before he is done. Also, and this is just a thought, I would love to see him in a storyline with Jeff Hardy.

And anyone who saw the end of last night’s show, don’t you still think that even though he was clearly on Bobby Roode’s side last night, after his performance in the ring against Angle, he first deserves a singles title and second, he will still turn heel and demand to face Roode after Bound for Glory?

Until next week…
