Kenny Britt Injury: Injured WR a Must Start for Fantasy Owners in Week 3

Michael DixonJun 7, 2018

Under normal circumstances, I would suggest that you avoid playing banged up receivers this early in the season. It's a pretty deep position, so you can usually find some good players on your bench or even the waiver wire that can fill in well for a week or two.

But in the case of Tennessee's Kenny Britt, he should be a go. Jim Wyatt is actually reporting that Britt's status isn't really in doubt.

If he hasn't had a setback now, it's not going to happen before game time. The Titans will be very careful with him in the remaining practices between now and Sunday.

With Chris Johnson playing ineffectively through the first two weeks, the Titans have had to resort to passing the ball a lot more than they would have planned. Incidentally, if you need a late waiver wire pickup at quarterback, consider Matt Hasselbeck.

Britt has caught 14 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns in two games this season. Denver is not the team that's going to slow that pace down in any significant way. Just as a point of reference, he caught nine passes for 135 yards and one touchdown against Baltimore. If he can have that kind of showing against Baltimore's defense, I don't see Denver as much of an issue.

In a PPR league, Britt will certainly have value, even if Denver can limit his overall production. But even if you're in a non-PPR league, go with him.

Normally, even slightly injured players should be avoided because their fantasy production can be relatively easily replaced. That's not the case with Britt.

At some point, Britt's production will taper off. Matt Hasselbeck is well past his prime as a quarterback and Chris Johnson will eventually get back to game speed. But right now, Britt is a person to play. He's a hot commodity who will produce significantly better than any other option.

If there is a risk that comes with starting Britt, take it and don't look back.
