NFL Picks Week 3: 3 Favorites That Will Easily Cover the Spread

Michael DixonJun 7, 2018

Upsets are a big part of sports. Still, sometimes teams that are heavily favored are heavily favored for a reason.

Some favorites will win and easily cover the spread, even if it's a big one.

These games may not be the most exciting to watch, but they will be fun for fans of the favored teams.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-10.5) at Indianapolis Colts

I actually have a little bit of sympathy for NBC here. This can't be the matchup that they had in mind when they scheduled their block of Sunday night games this year.

Pittsburgh has problems. There is no doubt about that. If they can't figure out how to solidify their offensive line, they will have a hard time winning that division.

But the Colts problems are just so obvious. That team has been driven by Peyton Manning's skills since 1998. Without him, they are lost.

I wouldn't mind being proven wrong here. But I just don't see it happening. The Steelers defensive attack is too strong. Even with Manning, the Steelers matchup well with the Colts. Without him, an 11-point win is not at all excessive.

Prediction: Steelers 28, Colts 7

Arizona Cardinals (-3) at Seattle Seahawks

I guess time will tell how good the Cardinals really are. Frankly, I don't see them as a great team, but the Seahawks are the worst team in the league.

The Cardinals defense has problems, but they will look just fine against the Tarvaris Jackson led Seahawks offense.

This is just not a good matchup for Seattle and three points is not at all hard to cover. I like Arizona's defense to force some turnovers and cash those into points.

Kevin Kolb will connect with Larry Fitzgerald early and often. Again, I wouldn't mind this one going the other way, but it's hard to see the Seahawks winning many games this year.

Prediction: Cardinals 31, Seahawks 10

San Diego Chargers (-14) vs. Kansas City Chiefs

After seeing the first two weeks of the regular season and all of the injuries that have hit the Chiefs this season, it's hard to remember that this is actually the reigning AFC West champion.

Better days lie ahead for the Chiefs. They are injury ravaged right now, but have the weapons in place to make a good run in future seasons. Additionally, they will get a high draft pick, so don't count them out long term.

But in 2011, they are not only 0-2, but haven't come anywhere near 14 points. Heck, they have only scored 10 total points.

The Chargers have a strong offense that will run up and down the field on Kansas City. In San Diego, the Chargers will win and cover comfortably.

Prediction: Chargers 38, Chiefs 6
