Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings: Which QB's Will Be Weekend's Best Performers?

Michael DixonSep 23, 2011

Has anyone seen what's happened in the first two weeks of the season? Forget about what Tom Brady and Cam Newton have done for a second. Seven quarterbacks have 600 or more passing yards in two weeks. Matthew Stafford has 599, while Rex Grossman has 596.

In total, 17 quarterbacks have 500 or more yards. When you really break that down, it signifies an amazing two weeks of football.

Still, we know that some quarterbacks will be better than others. If you are up against one of these three guys, hope for a lot of points from your team. You will need them.

Tom Brady

This will be the top guy for a long time. Brady's first two weeks have been incredible. He's on pace to throw for over 7,500 yards this year.

Now, I don't expect that, but I don't expect a significant drop any time soon. New England has the perfect mix for him.

They have a lot of receiving options and a questionable running game. Brady has seven touchdowns against only one pick this year, and that one was a fluke.

Buffalo gave up a lot of passing yards to Jason Campbell. The Bills will score some points, so the Patriots' attack will not stop at all. It wouldn't be at all surprising to see Brady north of 400 yards again in Week 3.

Rivers is an absolute machine. It doesn't matter if the Chargers win or lose, his numbers are strong every week.

Now, he is going up against a Chiefs defense that has taken a beating in the first two weeks. They have allowed 89 points in just two games. Unfortunately for Kansas City, it's not going to get any better.

Without Eric Berry, the Chargers are going to dismantle the Chiefs. Rivers will easily eclipse 300 yards again and will likely have about three touchdowns to go along with it.

Matthew Stafford

The other classically elite quarterbacks face stiffer tests. Minnesota's pass defense has not done a lot this year.

Now, they have to find a way to stop Calvin Johnson and the Detroit offense. Frankly, I don't like their chances.

Stafford is a big time quarterback that hasn't been able to stay healthy. Through two weeks, he's shown us all just how good he can be. Expect that pace to remain for at least another week. Stafford and Johnson are going to connect for another big day.
