Week 3 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: 7 Players You Must Insert into Your Lineup

David LevinSep 25, 2011

Fantasy football is much like the stock market. A great move today does not always look like a great move tomorrow.

There is time and investment into it. Strategy to plan and of course, the occasional prayer to the football gods doesn't hurt.

Admittedly, I am a fantasy football junkie. I chart, plan, add, subtract and sit on pins and needles each weekend to make sure my players (I love saying that) are fit and ready to play.

For me and millions of other players, there is no tomorrow when it comes to setting lineups and waiting for points to be racked in.

This week, there is Michael Vick and other quarterbacks out there to play. There are points to be won. There are games to watch.

And of course, tales to tell. Here are seven players you must play this week.

Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers

1 of 5

I am not a fan, but I cannot deny he could have a huge game against the Colts.

After losing the first game of the season to arch-rival Baltimore, Ben and the Steelers slammed Seattle 24-0. Could another big performance be looming?

Because the Colts don't seem to be able to score and their defense hasn't stopped anyone, this could be a double-digit win for the Steelers and Big Ben. Look for him to pass early and often at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Matt Schaub, Houston and Drew Brees, New Orleans

2 of 5

This could be a game like the Saints and the Packers two weeks ago.

You have two of the better quarterbacks in the league and two of the better teams in the league.

Matt Schaub will look for Andre Johnson all day and Brees will have his choice of Devery Henderson and Lance Moore to hit across the seam.

Don't be surprised if both passers approach 400 yards in the game.

Of course, this means little defense will be played, but if I had to give one player an edge, I probably would go with Brees.

Kenny Britt and Matt Hasselbeck, Tennessee

3 of 5

Denver's secondary may have a hard time trying to stop this pass-catch combo.

Actually, the NFL may have a hard time stopping this duo.

Kenny Britt found a quarterback that gets him the ball. So far, Britt has shown why he was such a talented player out of Rutgers.

The two almost came from behind to beat Jacksonville in the season opener and then played pass and catch against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Broncos may be on par with the Jaguars, but they are not as good as the Ravens.

Play the combo.

Maurice Jones-Drew

4 of 5

While some of you will call me a homer on this one, take a look at this.

Jones-Drew has 185 yards in the first two games, which is his best output for the first two games of a season in any one of his seasons in the league.

Jones-Drew is probably licking his chops at the idea that if he gets through the front of the Carolina Panthers' defensive line, there are injuries to the linebackers that have put Thomas Davis and Jon Beason on the shelf.

If Blaine Gabbert follows the game plan, look for there to be steady diet of Jones-Drew up the middle straight to the end zone.

Tom Brady

5 of 5

This really is a no-brainer.

I'll admit he is on my fantasy team (third round pick) and should be on everyone else's list.

While he probably will not throw for another 450 yards this week (well, anything is possible) against Buffalo, you cannot deny his hot start is just beyond comprehension.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been red hot as well, but in this case all eyes will be on the 2010 MVP of the league.

Until he stops throwing for ridiculous numbers, you have to play him.
