NFL Picks Week 3: Upset Special

Michael SanteramoSep 22, 2011

It has only been two weeks, but we have already seen some surprising teams pull out victories. There's always favorites going into the weekend, but it doesn't always work out as planned.

There's some very interesting games this weekend. Here are some match ups that I feel could have surprising outcomes this weekend.

Giants vs Eagles

1 of 4

The New York Giants are coming off a win against the St. Louis Rams on Monday night.

Michael Vick's health status is in question, and with Vince Young still injured, the Eagles might have to turn to third-string quarterback Mike Kafka. Kafka isn't a bad option, but he doesn't offer the same game-changing ability that Vick does.

I see the Giants beating the Eagles and improving to 2-1.

Raiders vs Jets

2 of 4

Oakland's collapse against the Bills last week, coupled with the Jets' domination of the Jaguars, and one  would think all signs point toward a Jets victory.

However, the Raiders are bitter about throwing away a chance at a 2-0 start. They also know that they have to win this weekend with New England coming to town next week.

Expect the Raiders to run the ball a lot and try to get after Mark Sanchez all game.

Raiders will upset the Jets and win their home opener.

Bengals vs 49ers

3 of 4

Andy Dalton had one of the best rookie performances of Week 2 and looks impressive.

A lot of people fail to realize that the 49ers would be 0-2 if it wasn't for Ted Ginn Jr's clutch kick returns in Week 1.

I'll admit that going into the season I thought that the Bengals might be the worst team in the league, but I think they will pull out a win against San Francisco.

Vikings vs Lions

4 of 4

Adrian Peterson has 814 rushing yards in his last eight games against Detroit. Expect the Vikings to be hungry for a win and run the ball as much as they can. If McNabb can get anything going in the passing game, the Vikings will put together a good game.

The Lions are one of the surprises of 2011, but they will come up short this week.

Minnesota will pick up it's first win in Week 3.
