NFL Picks Week 3: Which Teams Will Emerge as Best 2-1 Squads?

John RozumSep 22, 2011

When the power rankings for next week are revealed, there will obviously be some changes and the picture of who's better than who will become more clear.

A big reason for that is because there are currently 18 franchises with a record of 1-1.

As you can see, Week 3 will clarify things up a bit.

There are also seven teams that are undefeated, but whoever loses and drops to 2-1 is not being counted for, because when you emerge, you get better.

Therefore, here are three teams who will emerge from 1-1 to 2-1 and will begin to establish themselves in 2011.

Atlanta Falcons

After a disappointing performance against Chicago in Week 1, the Falcons refocused and defeated the Philadelphia Eagles at home in Week 2.

They travel to Tampa Bay in Week 3, who is also 1-1, but still having trouble finding their identity.

Last week, the Bucs' started off real slow against a weak Vikings team, but did manage to come back and win.

If they start off slowly against Atlanta, they will get smoked, as evidence by how productive the Falcons' offense was last week.

And that's exactly what happens too, because Atlanta is rolling with confidence and Tampa Bay is still a vulnerable bunch.

Hence, the Falcons move back into the Top-10 of the NFL power rankings at 2-1.

Philadelphia Eagles

Week 3 is going to be a testament as to how good these Eagles really are.

We know the defense is going to rebound because, frankly, there's just too much talent on their dark side.

Offensively, it's uncertain as to whether QB Michael Vick is going to play, but regardless, if Philly wins, they will regain a lot of confidence from an all-encompassed perspective.

Meaning, the defense steps it up and shuts down the Giants, and the offense produces with an unhealthy Vick, or with backup QB Mike Kafta.

It also allows the Eagles to keep pace with the Washington Redskins in the NFC East (provided Washington wins in Dallas on Monday night).

Baltimore Ravens

After Week 1 the Ravens looked like the best team in the game.

They completely dismantled their AFC North rival Pittsburgh, but fell from grace just a week later to the Tennessee Titans.

This week, Baltimore makes the trip to The Gateway to the West in St. Louis.

Although the Rams are 0-2 they are a very formidable opponent as they've lost two tough games (Eagles and Giants).

However, for as much talent as the Ravens possess, St. Louis is still a few steps back and falls once again.

As for Baltimore, it gets back on track and reestablishes itself as an AFC title contender.
