Michigan State Football: Central Michigan Will Help Put Spartans Back on Track

Central Michigan is just what the doctor ordered for a Michigan State team that was dismantled by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish last week.

The Chippewas enter this game with a 1-2 record, and are coming off blowout losses against Kentucky and Western Michigan.

Michigan State couldn't ask for much more than that.

The Spartans need an easy win after their loss to Notre Dame—simply to get their confidence back before the team faces Ohio State, followed by three consecutive ranked opponents.

After Ohio State, the Spartans have home games against the Michigan Wolverines and the Wisconsin Badgers, before hitting the road to take on new Big Ten school Nebraska.

There is no denying that Michigan State has a tough schedule ahead, so getting the opportunity to catch its breath this week is just what it needs.

Central Michigan enters this game with an average passing attack and one of the worst run games in the country. 

It currently has the 99th-ranked rushing attack in the country, and will struggle to pick up any yards against one of the better defenses in the country in Michigan State.

Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins is one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country, and will look to exploit a very weak Central Michigan defense.

Cousins has thrown for 734 yards and four touchdowns so far this season and will be looking to improve his touchdown total significantly this weekend.

This game should be a blowout and could be exactly what Michigan State needed to get their confidence up before they hit the rough part of their schedule.
