NFL Picks Week 3: 5 Guaranteed Locks Worth Betting the Farm

Wes ODonnellJun 4, 2018

There are four teams favored by more than a touchdown in Week 3 of the NFL.

Much like last week, the heavy favorites are expected to cover the spread despite laying so many points.

There are also a number of underdogs worth looking at as well.

Week 3 guarantees to be a lot of fun, and there are plays to be made.

Here are five locks worth betting the farm.

New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills over 53.5

1 of 5

Both the Patriots and Bills have looked phenomenal on offense this year.

Tom Brady and Ryan Fitzpatrick are two of the most productive quarterbacks in the league through two games and it doesn't appear that it will stop.

The defenses for both teams, however, have been far from spectacular.

The Patriots have scored over 30 points in 10 straight regular season games—winning all of them—and will account for more than half the over by themselves.

Buffalo has scored over 35 points in both their game so far this season, and the Patriots defense has given up over 21 points in each of their first two games.

Neither of these teams show any signs of improving on defense, or slowing down on offense.

San Francisco 49ers +3 at Cleveland Browns

2 of 5

The 49ers may have to travel across the country for this game, but this play is more about how bad the Bengals are.

Cincinnati is an atrocious 1-11 against the spread in their last 12 attempts.

The team managed to scrape a win in their opener against the Browns, but the 49ers are a better football team overall.

Take the points and watch the Bengals do what they do when favored: lose.

Miami Dolphins +3 at Cleveland Browns

3 of 5

The Dolphins may be 0-2 straight up and against the spread, but that is because they opened their season with two games at home.

Miami has made it a habit of losing at home over the past two years winning only one game in their last 10 attempts.

Cleveland already blew one home game this season, and the Dolphins are 5-0 as road underdog in their last five attempts.

To strengthen it even more, they are 11-5 against the spread in road games in their past 16 attempts.

Baltimore Ravens -4 at St. Louis Rams

4 of 5

The Ravens are coming off an embarrassing division loss to the Tennessee Titans and want nothing more than to trounce the Rams like they did the Steelers.

St. Louis is coming off a short week and is a banged up squad still trying to rebound from two losses to NFC East opponents.

The kicker in this game is how poorly the Rams handled things against a beat up Giants secondary. Despite putting up a number of yards, the Rams simply found ways to hurt themselves.

The Ravens—although not great—are much better off defensively than the Giants right now and will give this offense fits.

The Giants covered a seven point spread against the Rams. The Ravens will cover a four point spread.

Pittsburgh Steelers -10.5 at Indianapolis Colts

5 of 5

Even if the Steelers' defense is slowing down, the Colts' offense is going backwards.

Without No. 18 under center this Colts team is completely lost.

Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers covered a double-digit spread a week ago against the Seattle Seahawks and they'll do the same this week against the Colts.

The Steelers' offense needs a kick in the butt, and this Colts defense comes along at just the right time.
