Teams That Will Make the Playoffs in the NFL! 9-7 Will Not Cut the Mustard!

Thomas MorelandNov 25, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving everyone from NFL Mikee.

I am going to show you who will make the playoffs using a simple formula of looking at games left to be played and making some intelligent forecasts.

Most of my predictions have been very good this season. Lets break this down so even a monkey could figure it out.

First, we have the division winners!

We will start with the easiest ones and work our way to the pitiful AFC West.

Giants win the NFC East! What a shocker that one is, huh?

The NFC central, known as the black and blue division, is very tight! Minnesota and Chicago are tied at 6-5, while Green Bay remains one game behind. It looks like the Pack will come up short, but think again, monkeys!

Minnesota and Chicago play each other. One of these teams is 7-5 while the other slips to 6-6. Green Bay wins at home this week and they are at 6-6.

Chicago beats Jacksonville, Minnesota beats Denver. Green Bay beats Houston. Chicago or Minnesota is 8-5, two remaining teams are 7-6.

Week 15, New Orleans gets a win over the Bears. Green Bay beats Jacksonville. Arizona beats Minnesota. Hmmm, Packers are tied for the division lead at 8-6.

Week 16, Green Bay plays the Bears, who they previously beat 38-3, presumably wins, and goes to 9-6. Minnesota is desperately hanging on if they beat Atlanta, which could be tough!

Week 17, Packers beat Detroit to go to 10-6, Minnesota loses to the Giants, and the bears are also one game out even if they win.

Poof. Packers win that division. Looking back, if Chicago can't beat New Orleans and Green Bay, they are toast! Will 9-7 get a wild card? We will look at that shortly!

Lets look at the NFC South now!

Carolina loses to Green Bay, dropping them to 8-4. Tampa Bay beats New Orleans in Tampa in a close one. Tampa Bay is now at 9-3, New Orleans is basically done! Atlanta has room to win  and move to 8-4  or lose and fall to 7-5.

Week 14, Atlanta plays for their wild card life against 6-6 New Orleans! Tampa Bay plays in Carolina basically for the division title. They could both be at 9-4 or Tampa Bay moves to a comfortable 10-3, while Carolina is now in it for a wild card, possibly.

Week 15, Tampa Bay plays Atlanta in a very big game for both teams. IF Alanta wins, they have a possible 9-5 record at this point and 10-4 isn't out of the question. Tampa wins and most likely they are at 10-4 at least. Meanwhile, New Orleans is having to play the Bears in very cold weather. Let's say New Orleans loses. That will give the Bears a glimmer of hope until they play Green Bay. Carolina possibly can beat Denver, making them 9-5, or if they managed to beat Tampa, 10-4.

Week 16, Carolina loses to the Giants. The division is up for grabs if Tampa can beat  San Diego coming to the East coast, and Atlanta plays Minnesota up north.

Week 17, Tampa beats the Raiders, Atlanta beats the Rams, Carolina and New Orleans are playing for a road to nowhere!

Tampa Bay wins this division, with Atlanta getting a wild card! The second wild card will go to Dallas!

NFC west goes to Arizona of course!

There are your NFC playoff teams: New York, Green Bay, Tampa and Arizona. Wild cards: Atlanta and Dallas.  Whew, that wasn't too confusing was it?? I think Dallas will finish strong, whille Washington's offense is suspect. Dallas plays more teams with a winning record, but if Dallas is healthy, they are the third best team in the NFC.

First an easy one! Tennessee wins that division! Duh!

Let's look at the Jets a moment! They play Denver at home. Win, San Francisco out West, win. Buffalo back at home, win! Seattle? oh my word! This schedule is easy going out, win, and the last game of the regular season, against the Dolphins, win.  The Jets win four out of these five—easy division winner! 12-4, 11-5 at least!

New England must probably win out or at least win four out of the last five. Let's see who they play? First, the Steelers, I've picked New England on this one and they need a win, or they are two behind the Jets. Seattle's a win. Raiders a win. Ooh a tough one here, Arizona, but New England is home on this one, and finally Buffalo.  New England can get a wild card at best!

Miami does not deserve to make the playoffs, I have hexed them! Sorry Dolphins, call it Joey Porter karma.

Can Buffalo pull out a wild card? I think not!

Ok, Now the AFC North!

Lets say New England beats the Steelers. Steelers 8-4. Then they play Dallas!!! oooh, that's a good one. Steelers at home on this one. I don't think they will lose to New England, but I did pick New England, then the Cowboys too, so...maybe Dallas wins this one...8-5. Then they travel to Baltimore who they beat handily once already. 9-5. Then a win at Tennessee, who will be on cruise control for their division and probably play second stringers a little. 10-5. Then Cleveland! 11-5.

Can Baltimore keep up?  Let's see. Bengals, a win. Washington, 50/50, maybe a win, Steelers a loss, oops, down at least a game now, maybe two. Then Dallas in Dallas. Loss. Jacksonville, a win. I think the Ravens come up a little short.

Steelers win the AFC North.

Whew, we're coming down the home stretch now. Denver or San Diego. Denver loses this week to the Jets. Denver beats Kansas City. Denver loses to Carolina. Denver beats Buffalo???  Maybe! 50/50 shot. Ahhhh, last game of season in San Diego! Division record will come into play if they are tied.

San Diego somehow beats Atlanta this week. One game back. San Diego beats Oakland. Still one game back. San Diego beats Kansas City. Tied for division! San Diego loses to Tampa, if Denver can beat Buffalo, Denver up by one game. Damn Denver, that Raider loss is not looking very nice about now! San Diego beats you last game of the season, Chargers win division. If Kansas City or Buffalo beats you, San Diego catches up!

Call me crazy, I'm picking the Chargers if they can win this week. If Atlanta beats them, a very tough road to catch the Broncos.

If San Diego wins this week, coupled with the Broncos losing, San Diego wins that division.

AFC Playoff teams as follows: Tennessee, Jets, Steelers, San Diego. Wild cards: New England  and  surprise! Peyton Manning and the Colts! The next three games for the Colts are Cleveland, Cincinatti, and Detroit. Whoops, 10-4. Then Jacksonville, and Tennessee for a revenge game in Indy. 12-4! Poof! Wild card!

Hope you enjoyed this little preview! Let us see how it all plays out!

I am going out on a limb with San Diego I think, the rest looks pretty solid!

Good luck to all your teams, enjoy your turkey on Thursday and have a nice, safe Thanksgiving!
