Fantasy Football Week 3 Projections: Who Will Be Week's Top Point-Scorers?

John RozumSep 22, 2011

Obviously every week there has to be someone who scores the most fantasy points.

However, to really get in-depth about it, instead of just going with the most overall, let's project who will score the most at the QB, RB, and WR positions.

So who will Week 3's top point scorers?

Well, we have one player at the each of the three aforementioned positions (QB, RB, WR) to break it down.

QB: Tom Brady, New England Patriots

At this point does it really matter which defense is lining up against Tom Brady?

Apparently not, because last season San Diego had a Top 5 defense in both passing and rushing, and didn't lose anyone this offseason, but were still dominated by Brady and the Pats'.

In fact, one could say they even got better with the addition of Na'il Diggs, Takeo Spikes, and rookie Corey Liuget.

This week Brady goes up against a Bills defense that allowed 35 points in Week 2 to Oakland, just a week prior they stuffed Kansas City for only seven.

Regardless of which Buffalo defense shows up, it won't matter because it's Tom Brady.

Projection: 400-plus passing yards, three TDs, zero picks

RB: Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars

Thus far in 2011 MJD has played pretty well in terms of fantasy, as well as in real football.

He obviously performed better in Week 1 however, because in Week 2 the New York Jets were able to isolate him a little bit.

Week 3 though, the Jags' travel north to take on the Carolina Panthers, who do have a great offense, but a vulnerable defense.

Sure, rookie QB Blaine Gabbert is slated to get the start, and the Panthers will come after him, but that will only allow MJD to take advantage of his strength, which is doing work after catching a screen pass or check-down.

Not to mention, Carolina has been without LB Jon Beasom, who's arguably their best defensive player.

Projection: 125 rushing yards, 75 receiving yards, two total TDs

WR: Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals

It's a big Week 3 game for the Cardinals as they play away in The Great Northwest to Seattle, WA. against the Seahawks.

Last week the Washington Redskins, who have a much better defense than Seattle (although they are underrated) couldn't slow down Fitz as he caught seven balls for 133 yards and one TD.

Expect Larry to soar once again, but he could very well up his numbers from Week 2 as this may be the make-or-break game for Arizona in 2011.

A win and they have a solid road win in the NFC West, a loss however, would be a significant drop in confidence for everyone.

Projection: Ten catches for 150 yards, and two TDs
