Mayweather vs. Ortiz and the Worst Cheap Shots in Boxing (With Videos)

After last week's mega boxing bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Victor Ortiz, much has been discussed about whether or not the knockout Mayweather earned was legal or illegal.

No matter which side fans take, there is no doubt it was a sucker punch, and one that came moments after Ortiz was seen intentionally head-butting Mayweather in the corner.

It has been a while since the boxing ring has seen such a crazy finish to a fight, and it just happened to be in one of the biggest fights of the year.

The following videos showcase some of the more brutal fouls and knockouts by punches after the bell.

Billy Dib Knocks Down Kenichi Yamaguchi

Billy Dib got the knockdown over Japanese opponent Kenichi Yamaguchi, but he didn't stop when his opponent fell to the canvas.

It's illegal to hit a downed opponent, and there have been countless examples of boxers disqualified for punching their opponent after they hit the canvas.

The fight resulted in a no contest.

Roberto Duran Knocks Out Ken Buchanan With Low Blow

In a closely-contested bout from 1972, Robert Duran ended the night of Ken Buchanan with a vicious low blow in Round 13 of their lightweight title bout.

Duran was awarded the KO victory and the title and would go on to have one of the most legendary careers in the sport with championship victories in multiple weight divisions.

Jack Dempsey Knocks out Jack Sharkey After Low Blow

Three years before Jack Sharkey would be disqualified for hitting Max Schmeling with a low blow, he would be the victim of taking a low blow by Jack Dempsey.

After the referee was moving in to break up the boxers, Dempsey delivered a vicious left hook that put Sharkey down and out on the canvas.

Dempsey would be awarded the KO victory.

Riddick Bowe Gets Kicked by Elijah Tillery After Bell

Tuesday Night Fights featured many of Riddick Bowe's earlier fights in his career.

In this bout with Elijah Tillery, Bowe took an extra swing at Tillery after knocking him down at the end of the first round. Tillery responded with a few kicks of his own before being thrown over the ropes by Bowe's manager.

Tillery was disqualified for his actions, and the two had a rematch soon after. Bowe won by TKO in Round 4.

Freddy Norwood Loses by TKO (Low Blows)

After being hit low in Round 11, Derrick Gainer got back at Freddie Norwood with a few low blows of his own.

The power shots put Norwood down, and the referee began counting it as knockdown. Norwood didn't get up in time and lost by TKO.

James Butler Knocks out Richard Grant After Decision

After the decision was announced in a bout between James Butler and Richard Grant, the winner, Grant, attempted to shake Butler's hand and show respect for his opponent.

Instead, Grant was met with a sucker punch by Butler and was immediately down on the canvas after.

Grant suffered a broken jaw and lacerated tongue, and Butler was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, to which he served four months at a detention center.

Butler would later be convicted in the death of HBO commentator Max Kellerman's brother, Sam.
