NFL Power Rankings: 3 Teams Destined to Vault Up the Rankings

Eric BallSep 22, 2011

The NFL is only an eighth of the way through its season, so don’t panic yet!

There are three teams that are currently flying under the radar due to a lackluster start of the season. Whether it is injuries, bad luck, or a tough schedule, there are plenty of reasons not to give up on these three teams:

No. 22 Tennessee Titans

They were forgotten about after losing to the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars, but quickly reminded everyone they have some serious talent with their upset of the Baltimore Ravens.

Running back Chris Johnson is still in training camp mode and you can expect his best days to be ahead of him. Johnson didn’t run for 2,000 yards two years ago because he stinks.

With one of the best coverage units in the league and an incredibly mediocre division, the Titans will be competing for a playoff spot by the end of the season.

No. 26 Arizona Cardinals

After two weeks it’s clear the Cardinals are a very average team in the NFL. They can beat the bad teams (Carolina) and will find a way to lose to the good teams (Redskins).

QB Kevin Kolb looks like a guy that will have his ups and downs with an offense that has two legit playmakers in RB Beanie Wells and WR Larry Fitzgerald.

Combine a solid offense with a below average defense that has trouble defending the pass and you have the definition of an average football team.

They will creep up the rankings with every win in their mediocre division.

No. 28 Minnesota Vikings

Their second half collapses have really frustrated fans, but it shows this team has what it takes to compete with playoff contenders.

QB Donovan McNabb will only get more comfortable in the offense and sooner or later the coaching staff will realize they have to get more touches for WR Percy Harvin.

Combine that with two of the best players at their position (RB Adrian Peterson, DE Jared Allen) and it’s hard to imagine all of this talent going to waste.

I expect them to get back on track against the Lions this week as they creep their way back towards respectability.
