Atletico enters the game on a roll, having won its last two matches by 4-0 scorelines. They defeated Racing Santander on Sunday and Sporting Gijon on Wednesday.

Against Sporting on Wednesday, Radamel Falcao Garcia scored twice. Atletico now has seven points from four matches, the same as Real Madrid.

Atletico got off to a slow start this season as it tried to move past the loss of Uruguayan forward Diego Forlan, who transferred to Inter Milan. It drew at home against Osasuna in its first match and lost 1-0 at Valencia.

Barcelona, which won La Liga and the Champions League last term, opened the season with a 5-0 rout of Villareal. It beat Osasuna 8-0 but drew with Real Sociedad.

Barca went into Wednesday's match against Valencia with seven points through three games.

Last season, Barcelona won 2-1 at Atletico and 3-0 at Camp Nou.
