Mayweather vs. Ortiz: Manny Pacquiao Is Mayweather's Only Hope for Redemption

Andrew KulhaJun 7, 2018

Floyd Mayweather needs to fight Manny Pacquiao if we are to ever take him seriously as a fighter.

I can’t deny the fact that he’s a good boxer. In fact, I can admit that he’s one of the best that we have seen.

Just look at his record for proof of that statement, the guy can’t lose a match!

All that being said though, I have a hard time taking Mayweather seriously.

Ever since taking that hiatus from the sport I have lost all respect for Mayweather as a person and as a fighter.

His personal issues have been well documented, and his return to the ring has been highly scrutinized.

He came back with a vengeance, talking about how he is the best ever and how nobody could beat him, but who has he really fought?

Victor Ortiz was a worthy opponent, but before Ortiz it was just a handful of fighters on the down slope of their careers.

Mayweather even took a credibility hit in his fight against Ortiz! There is no doubt in my mind that the fight featured two of the dumbest cheap shots I’ve seen in sports, and the one from Mayweather just so happened to win him the match.

Sure, he won the match, but I don’t think he deserved to.

It’s hard for me to take Floyd Mayweather seriously, but there is one thing he can do to redeem himself:

Fight Manny Pacquiao.

This is the fight we all want to see, but ironically enough this is the fight that Mayweather avoids the most.

He talks how he is the greatest fighter ever and will show up Pacquiao, but he has done nothing to prove it.

Every time the fight is brought up he spouts off and talks smack, but he’s found ways to avoid it in just about every way possible.

Personally, I think Mayweather is scared that he will be exposed by Pacquiao.

It’s hard for us to question that he’s the best when his record is so good, so he continues to schedule fights he knows he should win.

I think he knows he can’t beat Pacquiao, so he’s going to avoid it in every way possible.

If Mayweather gets in the ring with Pacquiao he will be exposed for what he is, and that’s someone who can talk a lot of talk, but can’t walk it against the very best.

He’s still a great fighter, but he isn’t the best ever.

If he wants to be the best he has to fight the best. Fighting Pacquiao would be a huge step towards redemption for Money Mayweather.
