Chiefs vs. Chargers: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

In this AFC West showdown, the Kansas City Chiefs will try to rebound from their 0-2 start and beat the San Diego Chargers

Unfortunately, with all the injuries the Chiefs have been hit with, it's going to be very difficult to stop Philip Rivers from shredding the secondary.

The Chargers are coming off a tough loss against the New England Patriots, and they're going to want to make a statement against the Chiefs.

Kansas City has been outscored 89-10 in their first two games, and now that they're about to finally face an elite quarterback, it doesn't look good.

To get a better idea of what we're going to see on Sunday, let's take a look at a few specifics of this AFC West battle.

Where: Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA

When: Sunday, Sept. 25 4:05 p.m. ET

Watch: CBS

Listen: KCFX-FM 101.1 in Kansas City, KIOZ 105.3 FM in San Diego

Betting Line

According to bodog.com, the Chargers are favored at -15, which may seem high, but the Chiefs are one of the worst teams in the league this year. San Diego shouldn't have any trouble covering the spread, unless they choke, which has been known to happen.

What's at Stake?

The Chiefs need a win to gain some confidence for the 2011 season, but another blowout loss could mean all hope is lost. For the Chargers, they must make a statement and easily beat the teams they're supposed to, especially with several "experts" picking them for the Super Bowl.

Chiefs Injury Report

Jamaal Charles joins Eric Berry and Tony Moeaki on the list of top players out for the season with knee injuries. Linebacker Tamba Hali has an ankle injury and Jonathan Baldwin is still nursing a thumb injury. Both players remain questionable.

Chargers Injury Report

Wide receivers Vincent Brown, Patrick Crayton and Malcom Floyd have different injuries, but all are questionable for Week 3. Joining them is defensive lineman Luis Castillio and linebacker Jonas Mouton.

Fantasy: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em and Sleeper

Definitely Philip Rivers if you have him because the Chiefs allowed Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matthew Stafford to throw for four touchdowns, so just imagine what Rivers should do.

The Chargers pass defense is very strong, which is why you should probably sit Dwayne Bowe if you have him. He is their main go to guy and the Chargers will key on stopping him.

A sleeper start would be Chiefs running back Thomas Jones, who will make the most of his recent promotion to starter.

What They're Saying

Chargers safety Eric Weddle told reporters that the team learned a lot from their most recent loss. Per Sign On San Diego:

"

'It’s early. We can gauge where we’re at, what we need to work on. Obviously, we’re not as good a team as they are, but we can learn from it. This is the 2011 Chargers. It’s not the past. It’s not what we did two years ago or how we started or how we finished. This is us, this is now. We’ll see how we finish. You can’t write the story until it’s ended. Give us a chance to see what we can do before everyone thinks they know who we are before we do it.

"

The Chargers are tired of people doubting them, but until they stop choking under Norv Turner the haters won't go away.

James Gladstone, an assistant professor of orthopedics at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York told The Kansas City Star what we all know about the Chiefs this season.

"

'A lot of bad luck, basically, Gladstone said. 'Even the most well-conditioned athletes, doing the best preparation imaginable, get ACL tears.'

"

You have to feel for the Chiefs because they had a chance to repeat as AFC West champs, but with so many injuries happening, Kansas City's season is al but lost.

Chiefs Player to Watch

Keep an eye on how Thomas Jones does as the full time starter as he replaced Jamaal Charles. He hasn't made the most of all his carries this season, but now the Chiefs need him to be a star once again.

Chargers Player to Watch

Antonio Gates was held without a catch in Week 2, but he should bounce back strong against the Chiefs. The Patriots excelled at taking him out of the game, but that won't happen in Week 3.

Key Matchup

The San Diego defense against the Kansas City offense is the key matchup because the Chargers need to rebound from last week and the Chiefs have struggled to find the end-zone this season.

Matt Cassel has lost a couple of weapons, and he'll find it difficult to move the ball this weekend. However, Kansas City needs to put points on the board if they want to have hope for the rest of the 2011 season.

Prediction

The Chargers should easily win this game, but as mentioned before, sometimes they choke early in the season. It's a home game, which gives the Chargers even more of an advantage.
