A Happy Point Of View For Michigan In '09

Philly4EvaNov 25, 2008

I just wanted to make an article concerning Michigan football '09. I've read some previews that I agreed with, Dan's, and some I didn't, Onezuke18.

Michigan's Oline looked real crappy this year, but it looked like our OL jelled up a bit and became more consistent. Our OL also seemed very small compared to some other schools. It seemed like there were some DE or even LB, O_O, that looked bigger than our interior OL. But, hopefully, another offseason with Barwis will help bulk them up and become stronger and consistent.

The QB situation was verrry streaky, to say the least, and looked horrible this year. Luckily, we have some dual-threat QB's coming in, Shavodrick Beaver and Tate Forcier. Judging by our QB situation, it looks like they'll come in and possibly be a starter. They're coming in before spring practice so they'll get a good dose of the playbook down when the other recruits come.

Our WR's underperformed this year. Not very sure if it was the coach our the players but there were drops, bad routes, and bad blocking all over the place. Hopefully those problems will be fixed since Martavius Odoms has 1 year in the system and we have some slot ninjas coming in.

Our DB's looked HORRIBLE... Our safeties were out of place, they took bad angles, and their tackling looked horrendous. Tony Gibson, the Secondary coach, must've screwed up or something. He reverted Morgan Trent to '06 form, made Donovan Warren look worse than when he was a freshman, and just sucked. Unfortunately, RR is loyal to Gibson and it doesn't look like anything will change. Hopefully, It was the bad safety play that made our DB situation look bad.

Recruiting wise, we have 2 DQB's, 2 Lb's, 4 DL, 1 OL, 5 DB's, 4 Rb's/Slot WR's, a kicker, and a WR/CB type of guy. We also have a good number of prospects still looking at us. Denard Robinson, Josh Robinson, Big Will, Jelani Jenkins, and Quinton Washington come to mind.

I'm looking forward to a season anywhere from 6-6 to 9-3 next year and I'm excited for the future of Michigan Football.

Please comment on where I have flaws and where I should make improvements. Also, please no stupid, "FIRE RR, HE SUCKS" comments.
