Chelsea vs. Fulham: Complete Preview, Start Time and Schedule

Richard LangfordJun 2, 2018

Fulham and Chelsea are both looking to right the ship in this Carling Cup match following losses their last time on the pitch. However, Chelsea's ship needs a lot less righting than Fulham's.

Chelsea played well in a 3-1 loss to the powerful Manchester United last time on the pitch. The match was closer than the score indicated. Chelsea just needs to work on capitalizing on their chances, and they should have a chance to do just that against a Fulham squad that is reeling.

Fulham is 0-3-3 in their last six matches. They have been playing better as of late, though, and the last time on the pitch, they recorded a solid 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Where: Stamford Bridge in London, England

When: Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 2:40 p.m. EST

Watch: ESPN HD Brasil

Player to Watch for Chelsea: Didier Drogba

Drogba should be making his return from a viscous head injury that has sidelined him for more than three weeks.

All eyes will be on Drogba to see if he is suffering any lingering physical or mental ailments from the injury.

Player to Watch for Fulham: Clint Dempsey

Dempsey has been the key to Fulham's attack. When this forward thinking midfielder is at his best, Fulham is at their best.

Dempsey will be looking for a little revenge in this match, as he missed a penalty in a 0-0 draw the last time these two met.

Key Matchup: Peter Cech vs. Clint Dempsey

If Dempsey is going to lead Fulham to victory, he is going to have to find a way to beat Chelsea's keeper Cech. Cech has been solid in goal, and he will look to lead his squad to victory in this one.

What They're Saying: Andre Villas-Boas will likely use this match to give some of his younger players experience. Teamtalk.com discusses the possible new additions to the Chelsea lineup:

"

"Josh McEachran, Oriol Romeu, Ryan Bertrand and possibly Ross Turnbull will all start on Wednesday, with manager Andre Villas-Boas using England's second cup competition to blood his younger players."

"

Score Prediction:

Chelsea 2

Fulham 1
