Manchester United: Stoke City Will Fall Victim to Wayne Rooney's Hot Streak

Kyle VassaloJun 7, 2018

Wayne Rooney has scored nine goals in five games this season and is showing no sign of slowing down. When he takes on Stoke City on September 24th, they will fall victim to Rooney's hot streak just as every other English Premiere League team has before them.

Rooney is one of the most dangerous scorers in the world. It's not as though teams aren't marking him and accounting for him during every minute of play. Everyone knows Rooney is going to take over the match and there is nothing they can do about it.

Stoke City's back line has been inconsistent this season, which they can't afford to be when they square off against Manchester United. They'll need to look like the team that shutout Liverpool and Chelsea, rather than the team who allowed four goals to Sunderland.

Stoke City will be looking to rebound after that embarrassing effort, and Rooney and the Red Devils will seek to take advantage of their vulnerabilities.

The game being at Brittania Stadium is unlikely to affect Rooney's play. He's gotten the better of every EPL team he has faced thus far and is the player no back line wants to face.

He's bound to regress a bit as the season goes on, as there is no way he can maintain this absurd pace all season long. Even so, the regression isn't going to take place in this matchup.

Nobody wants to play the Red Devils right now, and Rooney is the reason why. He's obtained the attention of the entire EPL and continues to command it with his stellar play. It seemed like he may take a step backwards in his match against Chelsea, but stepping up in the manner that he did proves that Rooney's hot streak isn't coming to an end.

It's scary to think how good Manchester United can be this season if Rooney is able to keep up the ridiculous pace he has set for himself thus far.
