WWE RAW: 5 Reasons Why Last Night's Show Was Awesome

Sean O'NeilJun 3, 2018

In the fallout of a mediocre Night of Champions pay-per-view, last night's Monday Night RAW was excellent.

We saw Alberto Del Rio show his rage as he quickly made John Morrison tap out, Sin Cara in the ring yet again, and two Hell in a Cell matches were announced.

Here are five reasons why last night's RAW was purely awesome.

Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship Will Be Hell in a Cell

1 of 5

The show opened with CM Punk who stated that the Miz and R-Truth were in fact correct—there is a conspiracy in the WWE.

Before he could get any further, Triple H stormed down to the ring ready to fight Punk, but Punk stopped him and said that the conspiracy was not coming form Triple H—it was coming from John Lauranitis, and he was playing both of them.

Then Lauranitis came down to the ring and tried to fire Punk, but Triple H didn't let that happen causing Punk's reaction in the picture above.

There was a lot of heat in the ring to open the show and we found out that someone was going to be fired at the end of the show. We also found out that Punk would be facing John Cena and Alberto Del Rio in a triple threat Hell in a Cell match in two weeks at the pay-per-view.

I can't wait for that one considering how much potential it has as the first ever triple threat match in Hell in a Cell.

Mark Henry Destroyed Jerry Lawlor

2 of 5

Mark Henry made his first statement as World Heavyweight Champion Monday night.

After finding out that he would be facing Randy Orton in a Hell in a Cell match at the next pay-per-view (which I am also very excited for), Henry began threatening Jim Ross in the ring telling him that he had to apologize to the crowd and to him.

When Henry started to hurt Ross, Jerry Lawlor came out to save Ross and Henry decided to induct the King into the Hall of Pain instead of JR.

Henry put Lawlor through the announcer's table with a World's Strongest Slam...and it was awesome. I kept waiting for Orton to come out and stop him but it never happened.

Henry showed everyone that he is for real as champion, and I fully expect him to retain at Hell in a Cell.

Hugh Jackman Punched Dolph Ziggler in the Face

3 of 5

As soon as I heard that Hugh Jackman was going to be on RAW this past Monday, I got very excited.

Jackman's the man! Whether he has been Wolverine or a magician, he is a great actor and is just a lot of fun to watch on screen.

So when he said that he was going to find Zack Ryder and have the underdog defeat Dolph Ziggler, I knew that he had the potential to do something good and more importantly, the potential to hit somebody during the show.

So when the referee was distracted during the match and Jackman climbed up and clocked Ziggler in the face, I jumped out of my seat. It was great to see Jackman get involved and even better that he didn't just come onto the show to promote his movie.

Awesome moment which only added to the awesomeness of the night!

John Cena and CM Punk Joined Forces

4 of 5

John Cena and CM Punk may have put on three spectacular matches the past couple of months and maybe Punk should still have the WWE Championship belt around his waist, but on Monday these two acted as a tag team in the main event against the Miz and R-Truth.

It was a great match where Punk acted like an injured mess after Sunday night's match against Triple H. Awesome Truth was in control of the match for a while as Cena was getting beat up by Miz and Truth, but Cena managed to get the tag on Punk who came in and dominated, eventually hitting the GTS on Miz to win the match.

It was a little strange to see these two on the same side of the spectrum, but they actually made a great team. Cena showed his class at the end when he rose Punk's arm into the air, and I have to say that I really liked the idea of the two of them working together.

Maybe we will see more of it in the future after Hell in a Cell.

The Miz and R-Truth Were Fired

5 of 5

Before R-Truth's heel turn this past April, the Miz was my favorite Superstar in the WWE. Then R-Truth turned into the little Jimmy freak that he has become and he became my favorite Superstar. Then, my favorite two superstars joined into an awesome team.

Now my favorite two superstars have been fired.

After it looked like these two were going to survive the night this Monday, Triple H came out and fired the two of them with no explanation—even though they fought clean during the main event.

They both stood in shock for a moment and then proceeded to go a little crazy and attacked Triple H backstage before being thrown out the back entrance of the building.

Obviously the two will be back and "re-hired" at some point in time, but for the time being this was a great move by the WWE.

Now the conspiracy has been thrown into full effect as the WWE has kicked the two of them out of the business entirely and they can now cause all kinds of havoc from the stands...possibly with Kevin Nash?

The Miz and R-Truth are two of the hottest Superstars in the WWE right now, and I cannot wait to see where they go with this storyline.

I hope you enjoyed the show this Monday as much as I did and share your own thoughts on the show!
