NFL Power Rankings: Which Teams Are Most Difficult to Rank?

Chris TrapassoSep 20, 2011

After two weeks of football, the teams at the top and bottom are easy to place in any NFL power rankings, but the teams in middle, not so much.

With 18 teams currently 1-1, be gentle to anyone courageous enough to piece together a power rankings list.

At this juncture of the season, it's not easy.

For me, the Steelers and the Ravens were the toughest clubs to rank, mainly because of their Week 1 matchup.

Baltimore was far and away the better, more ferocious and efficient team in that game and the Steelers looked slow and were totally careless with the ball.

Then, in Week 2, the Ravens faced a Titans team with lower expectations and not a ton of talent and laid an egg.

Ray Rice rushed for only 43 yards on 13 carries and Joe Flacco was intercepted twice. The Ravens defense allowed Matt Hasselbeck to throw for 358 yards.

Talk about a 180.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh was back to their dominating ways at home against the Seahawks. Ben Roethlisberger tossed two touchdown passes and the defense shut out Seattle.

So, you tell me?

Where do you rank these two bitter rivals?

What about the Cowboys, who came up short in crunch time in Week 1 but were saved by Tony Romo's heroics in Week 2?

Their team is slowly but surely being ravaged by injuries, but I think they still have enough talent to contend in the NFC East.

I can't figure the Eagles out, either.

Will Michael Vick play this week? If not, how will the offense be with Mike Kafka behind center?

The Bengals are another team that isn't easy to rank. If Andy Dalton plays like he did against the Broncos more frequently, their running game, defense and easy schedule could yield some victories.

Actually, I'm not worried.

Divisional games will tell us a great deal about these teams soon enough.
