Fantasy Football Week 3 Waiver Wire Watch: 5 Diamonds in the Rough
It is once again time to dig through your fantasy league's waiver wire for some diamonds in the rough to help your team in Week 3.
Several players had great weeks and could have a positive impact on your team in the next couple of weeks to come.
Here are five players who are most likely available on waivers for Week 3.
Denarius Moore
1 of 5Oakland Raiders wide receiver Denarius Moore had a huge game on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
Moore hauled in five passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. He also added in one rush for 25 yards. Moore started the game because of injuries to starters Jacoby Ford and Louis Murphy.
Moore showed that he is capable of making big plays and should see increased playing time for the Raiders.
If you are hurting for a playmaker at wide receiver, Moore might be worth a look, especially in deeper leagues.
Eric Decker
2 of 5Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker had an impressive performance against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.
Starting in place of injured receiver Brandon Lloyd, Decker pulled in five passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns. He was targeted nine times by quarterback Kyle Orton.
With such an impressive performance, it looks like Decker will see increased playing time even when Lloyd returns to the field.
Decker is worth a shot for fantasy owners and should be owned by anyone who drafted Brandon Lloyd.
David Nelson
3 of 5After two impressive wins to start the season, the Buffalo Bills players are starting to be more relevant in fantasy leagues.
Wide receiver David Nelson is one of those guys. He was targeted 13 times by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, which was second on the team to receiver Steve Johnson.
Nelson caught 10 of those targets for a total of 83 yards and a touchdown. Nelson was also pivotal on the Bills' fourth-quarter drive to win the game. It appears he is building a relationship with Fitzpatrick and is trusted by the team to make plays.
Nelson should be a solid flex play this season and should be picked up by fantasy owners looking for a boost at wide receiver.
Dexter McCluster
4 of 5The news of Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles' torn ACL was devastating to those fantasy owners who drafted him. He was placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the season.
His injury should open the door for Dexter McCluster to see increased playing time. McCluster carried the ball eight times on Sunday for 51 yards. He was also targeted on several passing plays.
McCluster has the speed to make big plays for his team and is probably available in most leagues.
Unless you are a Charles owner, use caution when considering McCluster. He should be a serviceable flex play but should not be relied upon to score big fantasy points.
Cam Newton
5 of 5After his record-breaking performance in his NFL debut, many thought Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton couldn't come close to a similar performance—especially since he was facing the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers.
However, after another unbelievable performance, it is time to grab Newton if he is still available in your league. Against the Packers, Newton threw for 432 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. He also added a rushing touchdown.
It appears Newton will be a solid play in most leagues. Unless you own a stud such as Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, Newton needs to be on your fantasy team if possible.
