Hope Solo: America's Darling Doing More Than Just Dancing With Stars
Is Hope Solo taking Dancing With the Stars seriously?
It’s a fair question to ask as the 13th season of Dancing With the Stars kicked off on Monday night.
The commitment to the contest is very time consuming and I’m not so sure Solo realizes what she’s getting herself into.
Her partner, professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, has publicly said the couple is in a “good situation” as the contest begins. However, he has to be secretly steaming considering they aren’t getting the full practice time other contestants are getting.
Solo is trying to juggle this competition with her duties as a member of the women’s national soccer team. She will be going between practice and her pre-Olympic training and games on a weekly basis.
It’s an incredibly physical schedule that may wear her down eventually. While trying to sound calm and cool about it, you can detect the apprehensiveness of Chmerkovskiy:
"She's been splitting her time between dancing, training and competing. I'm just trying not to be too distracting! I feel good with what we have, so the traveling and her maybe not being able to devote more time to dancing doesn't really worry me.
There's never a perfect partner as far as someone who's perfect and a perfect situation. There's always something - drama, injury, a difficult schedule or some type of problem.
"
He doesn’t exactly sound thrilled about the situation does he?
Solo has the athletic skills to easily advance in the first couple of weeks, but once the competition heats up, she could be worn down between her two commitments.
You can’t knock her for fulfilling the duties that come with being the best women’s soccer goalie in the country, but maybe this whole Dancing With the Stars thing is not such a great idea after all.
