The 17th Annual Amsoil Duluth National Snocross: Preview
Thanksgiving Weekend will see Spirit Mountain in Duluth Minnesota invaded by the worlds' best snowmobile racers for the 17th annual Duluth National Snocross.
For those who are new to the sport it is very similar to motocross or supercross where riders drive their snowmobiles around a course filled with big 80 foot plus jumps and tricky corners. The tracks are built with snow. The largest race of the year is at the X Games in Aspen Colorado.
Many of the big names in the sport have changed teams, here is a little rundown of what Pro are on what teams:
Boss Racing- Robbie Malinoski, Dave Allard
Warnert Racing- Mike Schultz, Zach Pattyn, Matt Morin
Judnick Motorsports- Ross Martin, Matt Judnick
Hentges Racing- Brett Bender, Levi Lavalle, TJ Gulla
Christian Brothers Racing- Matt Piche, Brett Turcotte, Garth Kaufman
Monster Energy Arctic Cat-Tucker Hibbert
Arctic Cat Factory- Ryan Simons, Carl Schubitzke
Yamaha Factory- Iain Hayden, Steve Taylor
Scheuring Speedsports- Sean Crapo, DJ Eckstrom
Avalanche Racing- Andrew Johnstad
The Spirit Mountain track looks to be longer and mvre difficult than past years and being the first race of the season anything can happen. The favourites, however, are still the favourites. Levi Lavalle, Tucker Hibbert and Ross Martin are sure to be at the front all weekend.
Hibbert is last years X game gold medalist and is the favourite to take home both points championships this year as well. His monster Energy Arctic Cat will be at the front for sure this season with little chance of anyone stopping him.
Good Luck to all the racers this weekend! Braaap!
