Brandon Lloyd Injury: Latest Update on Lloyd's Hamstring
Brandon Lloyd really surprised his boss this weekend.
The Denver Broncos No. 1 receiver was questionable all week leading up to Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals and gave the coaching staff hope when he participated in practice on Friday.
Football executive John Elway assumed that meant he was going to suit up on Sunday. So instead of bringing up an extra receiver from the practice squad, he decided to bring in a running back to replace the injured Knowshon Moreno.

Instead Elway was very “surprised” when Lloyd ended up being ruled out for the game. Is the injury worse than previously expected? Here is the latest on the status for Lloyd going forward:
Latest Update:
I would be shocked if Lloyd didn’t suit up on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
He sat out on Sunday because the team was being very cautious. They didn’t want to aggravate it in only the second week of the year. If this were a playoff game, Lloyd would have been on the field.
It’s interesting that the coaching staff was surprised he couldn’t go. Keep an eye on his status with the coaching staff going forward as clearly they aren’t on the same page early on. There is no excuse for both sides to not be in constant communication regarding the injury and his latest update on it every five minutes.
Fantasy Impact:
If he was that close to playing last week, it’s safe to assume Lloyd will be back in action this week.
Kyle Orton and the rest of the Broncos offense were able to survive without him, but it’s clear he’s the No. 1 guy when on the field.
The Orton-to-Lloyd combination was aces in a game last year against the Tennessee Titans, and there is no reason to think they won’t be doing the same thing this year.
What They’re Saying:
There are two ways to digest this information.
You can look at it from the fantasy perspective of it:
"Okay, I'm confused. Do Eddie Royal and Brandon Lloyd both have groin injuries? If so, please join my fantasy team, Eric Decker.
"
Or the real-time impact that this may have on the Broncos going forward:
"Pretty clear that B. Lloyd has drawn the ire of #7..
"
It’s an odd story that is either much to do about nothing or the beginning of a rift between the coaching staff and their stud receiver.
As a Broncos fan, it’s a situation that needs to be monitored for the next few weeks. For a Lloyd fantasy fan, don’t worry…he’ll be back in the lineup this week.
