Cam Newton Injury: Latest Update on Newton's Ankle

Cam Newton has had a fairytale start to his NFL career but will now be playing with adversity for the first time in his professional tenure.

Newton was seen in a walking boot on his right ankle on Monday, a day after adding another 400-yard-plus passing day (resulting in a rookie record of 854 passing yards in two weeks), and he will be dealing with this injury for the foreseeable future.

Joe Person, the Carolina Panthers beat writer for the Charlotte Observer, has reported that Newton doesn’t plan on missing any practice this week

The walking boot sounds like merely a precaution to ensure the injury doesn’t get any worse. Yet, with the big-time impact he has provided for Carolina, a less than 100 percent Newton is not a good sign for a team that’s already 0-2 and looking to salvage the season.

Hold your breath Carolina fans. 

Fantasy Impact:

Not many fantasy owners have been able to benefit from the incredible amount of yards Newton has amassed in his first two weeks, and you shouldn’t start now.

Keep Newton on the bench for the Panthers upcoming matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This isn’t a long-term issue to be concerned with, but one that should turn you off from him in Week 3.
