Floyd Mayweather: Why Controversial Ending Is Great Hype for Pacquiao Bout

Boxing has been a dying sport for years, and Floyd Mayweather is actually infusing more interest into the sport with his controversial finish against Victor Ortiz.

There was nothing illegal about the way Mayweather finished the fight, but that doesn’t make it right in the eyes of the fans and people involved in boxing.

Ortiz can’t go unblamed, though, because he head butted Mayweather in a ridiculous manner and wouldn’t have been in that position if it wasn’t for his own stupidity.

While the PPV audience felt jaded by the ending, the people who pay the fighters will be plenty happy by the buy rate and have no problem shelling out more next time.

That’s where the wild ending benefits boxing in the long haul instead of the immediate future.

With the people that hated Mayweather hating him even more, the line in the sand between Floyd fans and haters has never been more pronounced.

With all of the hype around Mayweather and the upcoming fight for Manny Pacquiao, the talk will be fast and furious about a superfight that will end all other superfights.

The hype has been around for at least four years, and with both men fighting other opponents within a small window of each other, their names will be fresh on the minds of the casual fans.

If this superfight ever does happen, it will have to be the next fight for both men, or their ages and personal lives will ruin the chances of anything happening.

It’s already getting to the point where this fight feels like it won’t happen, but there are still many across boxing and the entire sports world that are dying for this bout.

The hype will be there in full force if they can agree on when to fight and all of the stipulations, and if it ever happens, it will be the Fourth of July weekend 2012.
