It's wrong to change a leopard's spot. It would take away his camouflage, his advantage and he'd simply be in trouble.
Michael Vick is a mobile, dime-cutting, speedster of a quarterback and it's simply wrong to stick him in the pocket.
Boom, crash, the guy who makes mobile look stationary was done it by the helmet of one of his own.
This morning the NFL most mobile quarterback is immobilized in an MRI tube to determine the extent of his injuries from the Sunday night loss to Atlanta.
Philly coach Andy Reid called it "rib cartilage damage" while ESPN's walking encyclopedia, Adam Schefter, speculated a possible "hairline fracture of the collarbone."
Either way, it's simply not good and it goes back to making Michael Vick something he is not—a pocket passer.
There's danger in them 'thar pockets, just ask Tom Brady's ACL.
When he rolls out, Vick is a nightmare for defenders, it's that simple, that easy to understand. Vick has this amazing ability to make people miss, it's tough to get a solid hit on him, often he simply gets tripped up of loses traction when he makes one of those hairpin cuts or literally stops on a dime and then tries to go from zero to 60 in four seconds.
This latest episode, if you want to call it that, should be a wakeup call for Reid and his offensive coordinator Marty "Now I'm Really in Mourning" Mornhinweg.
Post-it note to the fellas: GET MICHAEL VICK OUTSIDE THE POCKET.
Vick is a fast, elusive leopard and Jeffrey Lurie and his lads have a lot riding on this one.
Keeping Michael Vick in the pocket, if and when he returns to action is simply not a bright idea.
This "Dream Team" could suddenly turn fly south.
And Philadelphia might become the "City of Broken Football Dreams."
