Cam Newton: Carolina Panthers QB Gaining Respect in Las Vegas

Cam Newton currently ranks second in the National Football League in averaging 427 passing yards per game through Week 2 of the regular season.

It's an amazing start for the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback out of Auburn, sitting just behind New England Patriots perennial Pro Bowler Tom Brady, who is averaging an astronomical 470 yards a contest.

Oddsmakers are spreading the love as well, sending out the Carolina Panthers as a 3.5-point home favorite over the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday.

It's been quite a whirlwind in terms of betting odds, opening the season as 6.5-point road underdogs against the Arizona Cardinals, while dropping a 30-23 contest this week against the Green Bay Packers as double-digit home underdogs.

Newton's aerial assault could very well continue, as Jacksonville hasn't faced a premiere signal-caller in the first two weeks, while also ranking 28th versus the pass a year ago.

The Jaguars currently rank 14th in the league in surrendering 215.5 yards a game through the air.

Sharp bettors are going over two weeks of data, trying to find reason to back a franchise that has tallied a 2-16 record since the start of the 2010 campaign.
