Eagles vs. Falcons: Last Minute Predictions for Sunday Night's Game

David DanielsJun 6, 2018

On Sunday night, in the battle of the birds, Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles will be the ones flying high.

Atlanta Falcons fans will long for the days Vick was winning their team's games and not smoking their squad.  Matt Ryan is a talented, up-and-coming quarterback, but he won’t be able to keep pace with the former Falcon turned Eagle.

The Eagles and the Falcons are coming off games with polar opposite outcomes.  Atlanta is limping away from a 30-12 beat down at the hands of the Chicago Bears in which Ryan turned the ball over twice to Brian Urlacher.  The Eagles were the ones doing the slaughtering against the St. Louis Rams where Philadelphia won 31-13 in the Edward Jones Dome.

While Vick is bound to go off in his return as a starter to Atlanta, another athlete in the Eagles backfield will have the biggest night.  Against the Rams, LeSean McCoy rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on just 15 carries.  The Falcons allowed Bears running back Matt Forte to rush for 68 yards and catch five balls for 90 yards and a touchdown.

McCoy, a similar dual-threat back will have the same type of success.  The Falcons also had trouble containing the explosive Devin Hester on a dump off that turned into a video game-like scamper that set up a Chicago touchdown.  DeSean Jackson, a wideout with a similar level, if not more game-breaking ability than Hester, should hit a home run just like "Anytime" did last week.

The Falcons defensive ends are going to have to get pressure on Vick and contain him at the same time which isn’t an easy task.  John Abraham had two sacks against the Bears, but the Eagles offensive line is significantly more talented than Chicago’s.  On the other side, Ray Edwards had just one tackle in his Falcons debut.

All eyes will be on Vick in his return to the Georgia Dome and all of the Falcons' heads will be down as he leaves the stadium as Philly knocks out Atlanta.
