NFL Picks Week 2: 5 Reasons to Take the Over in Eagles-Falcons Game
The emotions will be running high at the Georgia Dome when the Philadelphia Eagles visit the Atlanta Falcons. Expect the final score to be through the roof.
When evaluating multiple factors that go into tonight’s affair, there are five strong reasons to believe that the over/under point total of 49.5 (according to Covers.com) will soar over.
1. Vick Has Something to Prove

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Vick was the king of the ATL for years during his tenure with the Falcons. The city adored him for his efforts and then proceeded to pull a complete 180 when it was discovered that Vick was going to jail.
Sunday night he will be facing an average Falcons secondary with Dunta Robinson and Brent Grimes that was smoked last year in their only meeting by DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin.
Expect the speedsters to have a field day on the ultra fast turf.
2. Recent Eagles Trends
The Eagles have strong trends of late pointing in the direction of a shootout:
Over is 7-0 in Eagles last 7 road games.
Over is 4-0 in Eagles last 4 games as a road favorite.
Over is 4-0 in Eagles last 4 games on fieldturf.
Remember they didn’t play very well in Week 1 and still put up 31 points.
3. Must win for Falcons
The Falcons were surprised last week by the Chicago Bears and can ill-afford to drop a second consecutive game to match their loss total from a year ago.
Roddy White apologized to his Twitter followers that he failed them in fantasy and you can bet one of the top receivers in the league is going to get back on track in a hurry. He can use his size advantage on Nnamdi Asomugha to win jump balls.
Expect the Falcons urgency to be extremely high for only a Week 2 game.
4. Eagles Will Run The Ball All Night Long
The Falcons lost top run-stopper Jordan Babineaux to injury and now Peria Jerry has to step up at defensive tackle.
That means a former first-round pick that has never shown much in the NFL will have to step up in a big way.
I don’t trust him to stay healthy, and I don’t trust him to make much of an impact if he does stay on the field.
LeSean McCoy should have a field day.
5. Falcons Trends Point to Over
The Eagles aren’t the only team that has grown accustomed to the over. Check out some of these recent trends:
Over is 9-2-2 in Falcons last 13 games overall.
Over is 4-1-2 in Falcons last 7 vs. NFC.
Over is 3-0-1 in Falcons last 4 games following a SU loss.
Over is 3-0-1 in Falcons last 4 games following a ATS loss.
