Jamaal Charles: Kansas City Chiefs RB Out for the Season with Torn ACL

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has announced that Jamaal Charles is out for the year with a torn ACL. Charles joins Eric Berry and Tony Moeaki, who also suffered a torn ACL this month.

In the past four games, dating back to Week 17 against the Oakland Raiders, the Chiefs have been outscored 150-27. Kansas City's last three touchdowns have all come from Charles. Charles scored a rushing touchdown against the Raiders in Week 17 and in Week 1 of the playoffs against the Baltimore Ravens.

This year, Charles caught a touchdown pass from Matt Cassel against the Buffalo Bills to give the Chiefs their only score of the game during the season opener.

On Sunday against the Detroit Lions, Charles left the game during the first quarter. Following his departure, the Chiefs were unable to get the ball in the end zone and only got one field goal from Ryan Succop.

The fact of the matter is that the Chiefs' offense is in trouble without Charles.

Without Charles, Thomas Jones, Dexter McCluster and Le’Ron McClain have to work together to carry the load. However, even when Charles left, the Chiefs struggled moving the football to help the Chiefs catch up to the Lions.

Along with the lack of rushing the ball, Cassel threw three interceptions against the Lions defense. The Chiefs offense has no talent on their football team after the loss of Charles.

Regardless of what happens in the remaining games for Week 2, the Chiefs will already finish last in the league in total points with only 10.

At this rate, the Chiefs should consider themselves lucky if they win a game this season. The Bills and Lions are the two best teams in the league in total points after two weeks. What do they have in common? They played the Chiefs.

Along with a poor team and the loss of three key players, the Chiefs will not make it far this season.
