Nick Collins Video: Watch Packers' Safety Sustain Frightening Neck Injury

Green Bay Packers safety Nick Collins sustained a scary neck injury against the Panthers that has the team more concerned about his well being than when he's going to be able to return to the lineup.

Green Bay's star safety on a stretcher is not the site the Packers wanted to see. They were plagued by the injury bug last season and managed to overcome adversity and battle their way to a Super Bowl victory.

Everyone was excited to see what they were going to be able to do with a completely healthy team, but it doesn't appear we'll get a chance to see. With Tramon Williams already falling to injury, their secondary is collapsing around them.

They have allowed a heinous amount of passing yards already this season and face an even bigger uphill battle now that Collins is down. There is no indication as to how long Collins will be out, but the neck injury appeared to be serious.

The way he went down makes football take a backseat to his overall health. When a player lies motionless on the field in the manner Collins did, it's easy to fear the worst.

Collins is one of the best safeties in the NFL and was a huge part of the Packers championship run last season. He plays a pivotal role in Dom Capers' defense and losing him for any amount of time is going to deliver a serious blow to the Packers.

Last season, the Packers had to deal with losing Jermichael Finley, Ryan Grant and Nick Barnett among others. This season appears to be more of the same. The Packers are a great team and have a solid shot at repeating, but encountering more of the same problems that plagued them last season has to be disheartening for Green Bay.

Obviously everyone is hoping for a speedy and full recovery. The Packers won't be the same team without him if he misses time, as he is one of their best defensive play makers and a crucial part of their team as a whole.
