NFL Picks Week 2: Bears Will Batter Drew Brees and the Saints

Kyle VassaloJun 7, 2018

Drew Brees isn't going to be able to avoid a dismal 0-2 start. With no Marques Colston, the Saints lack a physical red-zone threat, and with their run game bound to be shut down, home-field advantage isn't going to be enough to bail out New Orleans.

Brees is going to be under fire all game long. The Bears have one of the most daunting defenses in the NFL, and even if the Saints are able to get something going through the air, they aren't going to be able to launch the aerial assault they need to in order to come away with a victory.

The Bears are missing offensive weapons Roy Williams and Marion Barber, but they don't rely nearly as heavily on their offense as the Saints do. If this turns into a defensive struggle, the Saints don't stand a chance.

New defensive additions did nothing for the Saints. After they were embarrassed by the Seahawks in the postseason, it was clear a defensive overhaul was in order. Green Bay carved up their supposedly improved defense and exposed their shortcomings.

Chicago isn't Green Bay, but with their No. 1 receiver out, Brees isn't going to be able to share the wealth like he wants to.

The tragic passing of Brian Urlacher's mother will inspire the Bears to put forth their best game for their leader. The Bears are a close-knit group, though, and you should expect them to rally around the heart and should of their organization in his moment of need.

The Saints had Super Bowl hopes before this season started, but an 0-2 start is going to force an uphill battle for the Saints.

Luckily for New Orleans, the NFC South could easily end up a heinous 0-8. Unfortunately, the moves they made in the offseason have not paid off whatsoever thus far.
