Denard Robinson vs Andrew Luck: Which Heisman Favorite Had Better Week 3 Game?

Chris HumphreyJun 7, 2018

How do you pick between two stud quarterbacks which had a better Week 3 on the field?

In the desert, Andrew Luck had a solid game against the Arizona Wildcats in the Cardinal's Pac-12 conference play opener in a game that started a little rough for the Cardinal, as they only led the home team by six at halftime.

Meanwhile, across the country at the Big House, Denard Robinson was leading the Michigan Wolverines to an easy 31-3 win over their in-state competition, Eastern Michigan. The game was not in doubt at any point against the Eagles.

If you look at the stats from the two quarterbacks, the edge would have to go to Andrew Luck, as he scored another 300-yard game against a good Arizona team, over Denard Robinson who had a cupcake game versus Eastern Michigan, who never stood a chance against the resurgent Michigan team under Brady Hoke.

The future first round NFL Draft pick, Luck, has been a greatly effective quarterback in the first three games as he looks to be the first Heisman trophy winner from Stanford since Jim Plunkett won the award in 1970.

The remaining schedule for the Cardinal looks like a paved path right to the first-ever Pac-12 championship and more for Andrew Luck and Stanford, especially getting Oregon in Palo Alto this season.

On the other hand, Michigan and Denard Robinson might have a tougher road to their first Big Ten Championship Game, as the Wolverines will have Nebraska and Ohio State in Ann Arbor for the final two games this season.

When the Heisman trophy ceremony takes place this December in New York, the award will be Andrew Luck’s trophy to lose, unless Denard Robinson or any other playmaker has a big season to take the award from the junior quarterback.
